WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Round balloon of desired size
- White glue
- White flour
- A bucket (such as a plastic mop bucket)
- White string
- Rubber gloves (at least 2 pairs)
- Newspapers or tarp to protect the floor (this will get messy)
- Scissors
- A pendant light kit: available at hardware stores
- A light bulb
- Grab a friend to help!
DIRECTIONS:
- Blow up balloon and knot it tightly.
- Mix flour, water and glue in the bucket. The quantities don’t need to be exact, just use some of each until the final result looks like thick cream.
- Place the entire ball of string into the glue mix to fully cover with liquid, pull the end of the string out of the bucket and start to wrap it around the balloon. Stand back from the bucket and rotate the balloon over and over to cover it in string. Have your friend sit beside the bucket and feed you the string, wiping away excess glue but making sure the string is still fully coated.
- Once the ball is fully covered and you have reached your desired look, let it dry overnight. Best to hang it to prevent dents.
- Pop the balloon and remove it very carefully.
- Cut the hole big enough to fit the light kit snugly, then install the hardware (with bulb).
- Hang and enjoy!
